| Cycling is a quick, healthy, affordable and
non-polluting form of travel. More cycling will lead to less congestion
by reducing the number of short car journeys. It will also help
reduce air pollution and bring improvements in London’s street
environment.
Half of all journeys made in London are under 2 miles, a distance
easily cycled. Cycling makes sense as part of city-life. The average
4-mile journey in central London takes just 22 minutes by bicycle.
Cyclists can park for free and don’t have to pay the congestion
charge. Making a trip by bicycle means that you can often get closer
to your destination than if you used public transport, cutting down
your journey time.
Working together, TfL and the London boroughs are working to implement
a Cycling Action Plan to deliver a step change in cycling in the
capital. The overall aim is to treble cycle use by 2010, with a
target of an 80% increase in cycling. To find out more visit Cycling

CycleMaps.comThis
website generates route maps for cyclists in the Greater London
region. The routes include the London Cycle Network (LCN) and National
Cycle Network (NCN) where possible. In areas where there are not
many bicycle network routes the routing engine will calculate a
journey using minor roads and other roads, as recommended by users
with local knowledge of these districts.
